Okay, let’s talk about something that never fails to blow my mind: watching these equine athletes transform from energetic youngsters into full-on champions. Seriously, it’s like watching the growth of a superstar in the making—one who’s always had that fire, but is now owning it in the spotlight.
Just like with human athletes, there’s a moment when you realize, Wow, this horse is becoming unstoppable and so passionate about its work.
Wendy de Fontaine is the perfect example of that. She’s always had that it factor—maybe even right when she came out of her momma. We weren’t there, but I have a feeling she shined with her very first breath on this planet. Now, at 10, she’s like Swan Lake in horse form, gliding through the Dressage world with unmatched grace and elegance.
Here’s the thing: I never truly understood mares until I really started riding them—and I mean more than just one. They have this incredible, layered personality that makes you pause and just breathe so you can understand and flow with them.
It’s a whole different level of elegance compared to a gelding or a stallion. Don’t get me wrong, I love geldings and stallions, too. But my time with mares was limited until this past summer, and now that I’ve truly experienced their energy, I get it. They’re unique, with a kind of quiet confidence that commands respect.
I can’t help but humanize them, honestly. I know I’m not the only person who feels that way, right? I look at these incredible horses and see personality, drive, and this incredible presence. It’s what makes them not just competitors but legends in the making.
I’m excited to be following Wendy’s journey, and here’s to hoping we get to watch her shine in person at the 2025 Dressage World Cup in Switzerland. This mare is going to keep turning heads.
Following these equine stars is so exciting. They remind us that greatness isn’t just in winning. It’s the journey, the spirit, and that unmistakable wow factor they carry with them.
